Brook House

10th November 2021

The boys had a tough first game against a brilliant Haringey girls side, suffering their heaviest defeat of the season 5-0. However, this was just the wake up call the team needed before facing a strong Brook House team, who had already beaten Haringey Girls 2-1 in their match.

The boys played with a lot more pride and passion in their game against Brook House and it was a tense match, with both sides making some great turnovers. Our boys displayed some great control and technique and took the lead in the game, making the score 2-1. Brook House demonstrated some fantastic fighting spirit and brought the game back to a draw but we were incredibly proud of the boys for putting in such an excellent performance against a team that are in the league above us usually.

For both the boys and the coaches, meeting Joe Cole and Pikachu was just the icing on the cake and we want to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in the event. It was a fantastic night and the boys loved the experience and the giveaway goodies.

Haringey Girls

10th November 2021

At the Pokémon Fustal tournament, we experienced a highly competitive match against Haringey Girls who were amazing on the day. Their standard of futsal was fantastic to watch, their players linked up excellently and they worked the ball forward quickly, creating multiple opportunities for them to score. It was a very fast paced game with both teams creating numerous chances and really enjoying the chance to play futsal competitively again.

Everyone played really well but we were really happy that we managed to secure the win, beating Haringey Girls 2-1. We want to thank everyone that was involved in putting the event together, the atmosphere on the day was great and we are already looking forward to the next tournament.

Belmont Bees

10th November 2021

For our girls, playing boys is always a different experience, but they took it in their stride and started the game strong, ensuring that they moved the ball quickly and accurately. The Belmont keeper was pulling off save after save, but he couldn’t stop Betty’s thunderbolt goal which nestled into the top corner. Both Ellie and Asees put two further goals past the keeper and this gave the girls the confidence they needed to really up the tempo.

The goal of the game involved a huge team effort where Betty, after sixteen passes between her teammates, tapped the ball in to get her second of the game. This was not enough for Betty though and she finished the game scoring the 5th and final goal, which gave her the hat trick and the match ball! However, it was great to see that it was not all about the goal scorers, as defender Melissa was awarded player of the tournament for the Haringey Girls team. It was a brilliantly event and the girls loved having the opportunity to play against the boys, as it has given them the confidence that they can go all the way in the Pokémon Futsal Youth Cup.
